Hungarian Recipes

My mother always made it on top of the stove but some people prefer baking in the oven. I like it both ways. The meat is a little more tender if baked in the oven. Also, the less beef used, the more tender the roll. Good luck!

This recipe is very easy to prepare and not only fool-proof but delicious. The cold ham lasts (if there is any left) for quite a while in the fridge. This is one of my Dad's favourite meals. ENJOY!

Over the years, we have come up with the following for turkey. It is taken from another Hungarian chef, Louis Szathmary, and it even surpasses the Weber, although that is our alternative method!!

Note: Frozen phyllo leaves for strudel can be found at most supermarkets in the frozen foods section.

There is also a recipe with cabbage, not sauerkraut, but it doesn't have Hungarian bacon in it.

Sometimes pasta like spdtzle or csipetke is added and boiled in the soup for the last few minutes. Add hot chilies if you want a hotter soup, or use hot Hungarian paprika instead of some of the mild type.

Without the cream may be kept a week in the fridge. This is a recipe which I have adapted from the original.
