Ingredients

  • I think this recipe is Hungarian or Slovak, not sure.
  • 4 cups cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 cup large noodles

Directions

Cook and drain well the noodles, then cut them into little squares.
Melt butter in heavy saucepan; add cabbage, salt and sugar. Cook over a slow fire for about 30 minutes or unitl cabbage is soft and nicely browned, stirring constantly to keep from burning. Add pepper last.
This cabbage filling can be used for cabbage strudel, but omit pepper.
