Fruit Recipes

This salad graces every McMahon family gathering. We always know, from our earliest years, that we are attending a family "feast" whenever we see Grandma Mary's fruit salad.

Serve over terriyaki chicken or fish

I made this chutney for Thanksgiving and it was very well received. This chutney also goes very well with ham, meatballs, pork roast, almost anything.

This could be made like typical Orzo fruit salads but using chocolate pasta instead.

The classic quesadilla of Mexico is updated here with Brie cheese and sweetened nuts, and served as an appetizer with a bright and tangy salsa of fresh mango and pineapple. This salsa is also wonderful served on grilled chicken or fish.

Tisanes (pronounced tih ZAHNS) are more commonly referred to as herbal and floral teas. Steeped in boiling water like their more stimulating counterparts of black and green teas, herbal teas are different in that they offer subtle calming and rejuvenating qualities.

Any fresh or canned tropical fruit maybe added to the pudding. Cut the fruit into bite-sized pieces before stirring into the tapioca.

This is not technically a sauce but preserved fruits. The ingredients, particularly the ground mustard seeds, used to preserve the fruits, give the pungent flavor characteristic of this specialty. The best mostrada is supposed to be from Cremona. Fruit mustard is very good with boiled and white meat.

Works well with beef, pork or chicken. Goes well with a nice Pinot G.

This dense cake holds up in any season topped with whatever fruit is ripe - from berries to peaches to pears.
