Ingredients

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 TB. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Heat 1/3 cup chocolate chips over low heat until melted. Mix melted chocolate, baking mix, nuts, 1/3 cup sugar, the milk, oil, vanilla, and egg in square pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches. Beat vigorously with fork until well blended. Heat water and 2/3 cup sugar to boiling, stirring occasionally; stir in remaining chocolate chips until melted. Pour over mixture in pan. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Makes 9 servings.
