• This recipe is similar to the Sausage Casserole recipe of 12/22/97, just assembled differently.
  • 8 slices white bread
  • Softened butter
  • 1 pkg. smokey sausage links (uncooked)
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 4 eggs, whipped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper


Butter 1 side of each bread slice. Place 4 bread slices buttered side down, in a lightly greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Top with half of sausage links. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded cheese over sausage. Beat eggs, milk, salt, and pepper together; pour half of egg mixture over cheese layer. Repeat layering with remaining 4 bread slices (buttered side up), sausage links, cheese, and egg mixture. Cover with foil. Chill for 12 hours. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes; remove foil and bake 15 minutes longer. Serve right out of the oven.
