Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. minced onion
  • 3 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 c. milk
  • 4 c. tomato juice
  • 1 sm bay leaf

Directions

Saute onion in butter in large saucepan until tender. Add flour, salt & pepper, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk and tomato juice; cook over med. heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Add bay leaf; simmer 1 minutes. Remove bay leaf, serve. 5 1/2 cups.
