Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 t salt
  • 1 t. nutmeg
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/3 to 1 cup nuts [optional-I don't use]
  • 2 cups canned pumpkin

Directions

Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Beat until smooth. Bake in 3 small or one bread greased and floured pans at 1 hour for small pans or 1 hour and 15-30 minutes for the larger pan. at 350. Bread should be made one day before serving so spices set in [but we usually can't wait that long]. Store in the frigerator or freezer. Slice and serve buttered or with cream cheese.
