Ingredients
- 3 pounds spareribs
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon bacon fat or butter
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 to 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of cayenne
Directions
Wipe spareribs with a damp cloth; cut into serving-size pieces. Place in a shallow baking pan and bake uncovered in a moderate oven(350 degrees F.) for 30 minutes. Cook onion in butter or bacon drippings for 5 minutes; then add remaining ingredients, mix well, and simmer 5 minutes. Pour over spareribs and continue baking for an hour longer, basting the ribs from time to time with the sauce in the bottom of the pan.
