• Sift into a bowl:
  • 2 c flour
  • 1/3c white or 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking power
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Melt and cool slightly:
  • 2 Tbl. butter
  • Beat until light
  • 1 egg
  • Beat with the egg:
  • 1 cup milk
  • Add the melted butter.
  • Beat the liquid ingred. into sifted ingred.
  • Fold in:
  • 3/4c coarsely chopped nuts or dates
  • Place dough in a greased bread pan.
  • Bake about 40 min. at 350 degrees


I would add a chopped apple to this and maybe reduce the milk a little or add 1/4c more flour since it will be more moist. With the apple it might taste good with 1 tsp. cinnamon too.
