Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups boiling chicken stock
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp Cheddar cheese, finely grated
  • Salt
  • Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Combine onions and melted butter in a microwave-safe dish. Cover with a microwave-safe lid or with plastic wrap with slits cut in top to vent. Cook for 1 minute. Remove and stir in the flour.

Pour boiling stock over onions and microwave for 5 minutes, stirring once every minute, until thickened.

Stir in the cheese, a little at a time, until it has melted. Season with salt and Worcestershire sauce.

Return to microwave for another 1 1/2 minutes to reheat, then serve.

Serves 4.
