Ingredients

  • 1 cube margarine or butter
  • 8 Tbsp. flour
  • 4 c. milk
  • 1 (12 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • season to taste with salt and
  • pepper
  • 2 tsp. basil
  • Make roux from margarine and flour. Cook 10 minutes on
  • medium heat. Stir so it does not burn. Add milk. When milk
  • thickens add tomato sauce and tomatoes. Stir constantly so it
  • does not scorch. Add salt, pepper and basil. Makes approxi-
  • mately 6 cups soup.
