Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tsp. shortening, melted
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
  • 1 1/2 lbs. medium or large fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Hot vegetable oil

Directions

Fold flour, water, shortening, salt, and pepper into egg whites. Dip shrimp in mixture and fry in deep hot oil until golden.

3-4 servings
