Ingredients
- 12 large cabbage leaves
- 1 1/4 lbs. ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 egg
- 2 T. salad oil
- 2-8 oz. cans tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 T. brown sugar
- 1 T. lemon juice or vinegar
Directions
Pour boiling water over leaves and let sit until limp. Combine beef, rice, onion and egg; divide into 12 equal portions. Place a portion on each leaf and roll up. Fasten each roll with a toothpick and brown in the salad oil.
Meanwhile, combine tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Pour over cabbage rolls and simmer 1 hour.
Serves 4-6
