• BATTER (or use your favorite French Toast batter)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teas. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • dash nutneg
  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread
  • 2 slices deli turkey (1/2 oz)
  • 2 slices swiss cheese (1/2 oz)
  • 2 slices deli ham (1/2 oz)
  • Vetegable oil for frying
  • Confectioner's sugar
  • red currant jelly


Mix batter ingredients in a shallow bowl and set aside. Make two sandwiches, putting cheese between ham and turkey. Cut diagonally into quarters. Dip sandwish quarters in batter to cover all surfaces. Fry in 1/2 inch of oil until golden brown, turning as needed. Remove from oil, sprinkle with confectioner's sugar. Serve with jelly.
