Ingredients
- APPLE PIE
- pastry for double crust pie
- 1 1/2 pounds apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Divide dough in half. Roll out and place in the bottom of a
- 9" pie plate. Peel, core and slice apples. Place on top of crust.
- Mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle over
- apples. Dot with butter. Add top crust. Trim edges and seal with
- tines of fork. Brush top of crust with milk. Bake at 350 degrees
- for 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
- NOTE: If using freshly picked apples, reduce sugar to 3/4 cup.
Directions
Pastry
2 c flour
2/3 c shortening
1 tsp. salt
7 tbls. cold water
Place flour in a bowl. Cut in shortening until pea size balls form. Add water and salt. Mix together until forms a ball.
Enough for a 2 crust pie.
