Ingredients

  • 1 pound potatoes
  • 1 pound cabbage (about 1/2 head)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon chopped chives
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

Cook and mash potatoes. Chop and cook cabbage. Melt butter in a large skillet. Cook onions until soft and golden. Stir in cabbage and chives. Add mashed potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Turn into a buttered pie plate, sprinkle with grated cheese, and brown under broiler or bake at 400*F. for 10 minutes.
