Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 10-oz 7-UP reserving 1/4 cup for glaze
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup pecans (optional)
  • 1/4 cup 7-UP

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition. Alternate adding the flour and liquid. Stir in vanilla. Bake in a greased and floured tube or bundt pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until done. Cool about 15 minutes before removing. Glaze after cake is cool.
