Ingredients

  • corn beef
  • cabbage
  • turnip
  • potatoes
  • carrots
  • onions

Directions

Rinse corn beef under running water. Place corn beef in a large kettle. Cover cornbeef with water at least 3" above the meat. Cover and bring to a boil. Boil 1/2 hour per pound. Within the last 1/2 hour of cooking add cabbage, cut into large wedges and turnip, peeled and cut into large wedges also. You may need to add more hot water. Keep covered. Return to a boil. After ten minutes add remaining peeled vegetable. Everything is done when tested with a fork to insure desired doneness for vegetables. Usually tender crisp.
