Be sure to use a good sized saucepan, when you add the soda and vanilla it will foam up and you don't want it to boil over. Its a recipe I've used for a long time and is always popular.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups popped corn
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup peanuts, optional

Directions

Heat the oven to 250. Place popcorn on 15x10 foil-lined jelly roll pan. In large saucepan, combine sugar, butter and corn syrup; bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Simmer 2 minutes; remove from heat; stir in soda and vanilla. Pour mixture evenly over popcorn and peanuts, mix well. Bake at 250 for 30 minutes, stirring twice during baking time. Remove from pan immediately; cool completely on sheet of foil or waxed paper. Store in airtight container.
