Ingredients

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 12oz. bottle beer or 1 12oz. bottle unflavored seltzer
  • 1/2 butter, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix together the flour and sugar. Add beer or seltzer. Beat with a wooden spoon. The batter will be lumpy.
Place batter in a greased loaf pan. Pour 1/3 of the butter over the dough.
Bake for 40 minutes, then pour another 1/3 of the butter over the top of the bread.
Continue baking for 10 minutes more. Pour the remaining 1/3 butter over the top of the bread and bake 10 minutes longer.
Remove bread from oven.
Allow to cool for 30-40 minutes, and serve warm.


Makes 1 loaf.
