• 4 (1/2 inch thick) slices Italian or French bread
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled, halved
  • 2 tsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. crack black pepper
  • 1 small tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh basil


Grill, broil, or toast bread slices on both sides until light golden brown. While hot, rub cut side of garlic over one side of each slice of bread. Brush 1/2 tsp. oil over garlic side of each slice; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Top wiht tomato slices; sprinkle with basil. 4 servings.
