Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 2 tsp. baking powser
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c. cream-style corn
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • vegetable oil

Directions

Combine first 4 ingredients in large mixing bowl. Add corn, onino, egg and 2 tbsp. oil; stir well.
Carefully drop batter by level tablespoonfuls into deep hot oil (370); cook only a few at a time, turning once. Fry 3 to 5 minutes until hush puppies are golden brown. Drain well on paper towels. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
