Rich, ripe, with growing intensity from the nose through the finish, it showcases blackberry fruit and subtle toasty oak notes. Unlike previous versions, this one has well-integrated tannins, and though it will probably age gracefully for another decade or two, its perfectly enjoyable now. It starts with a slightly closed nose, then explodes on the palate with a profusion of blackberry, vanilla and spice that is so fruity it gives a momentary impression of sweetness, before finishing long and fruity with a hint of chocolate. The tannin is perfectly integrated, making this an easy wine to drink now (though you could age it another 7 to 10 years).
