NOTE: I use the AirBake or CushionAire type of cookie sheet to prevent the gumdrops from burning or sticking
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk or 1/2 cup milk+1/2Tbsp.vinegar
- 3-1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking sods
- 3-1/2 cups small gumdrops (red & green
Directions
Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and continue to beat. Mix in dry ingredients - alternating with buttermilk. Mix in gumdrops. Chill dough overnight.
Drop rounded spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes.
