Ingredients

  • "If using canned peaches, add no sugar. Use liquid from canned peaches as part of 1 cup boiling water."
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh peaches
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Whipping cream

Directions

Beat together thoroughly butter, 1/2 cup sugar,flour, baking powder and milk. Pour into buttered 8-or 9-in. square or round baking pan. Mix peaches and 1 cup sugar; spread over batter and pour boiling water over all. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 to 45 minutes. May be served warm or cooled with whipped cream.
