Ingredients

  • 6 T butter or margarine
  • 6 T flour
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 1/2 c chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 c milk or light cream
  • 1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

In a microwave-safe 1 1/2 qt. casserole or dish, melt butter or margarine on high one to 1 1/4 minutes. Remove dish and stir in flour until thoroughly mixed. Microwave on high 30 seconds. Remove dish and stir in salt, chicken broth, milk or cream and Parmesan cheese; mix well. Microwave on high about 8 minutes, or until thick and bubbly, stirring four times. Mixture should be thick and smooth.


Makes about 3 1/2 cups Mornay sauce.
