Ingredients

  • 6 large cooking apples, peeled, cored &
  • thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened

Directions

Place apples in lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Combine 1/2 c. sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the apples. Put flour, brown sugar and butter in bowl; cut butter in with pastry cutter until mix resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle evenly over top of apples. Bake, uncovered at 300 for 1 hour. Serve warm with ice cream, if desired.
