Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 scant c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • Cover bottom of well-greased large pan with above
  • batter. Mix the following and pour on top of batter:
  • 3 c. fruit
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. boiling water

Directions

Bake 45 minutes at 400 degrees F or until brown.

In the spring we have lots of blackberries, I'm a little heavyon the sugar with blackberries. With peaches, I measure the sugar like the recipe says. I have never thought of blueberries, but I'm sure it would be GREAT!
