These are great dunked in coffee or hot chocolate.
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon mace
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon anise oil
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 3/4 cup honey
- 3/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions
Sift all dry ingredients together. Place molasses and honey in pan and warm - don't boil. Add butter and stir to melt. Cool; add egg. Stir into dry ingredients - do not overmix. Let stand 15 minutes. Roll into little balls. Bake on greased cookie sheet 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees. If desired, roll in powdered sugar while still warm.
Makes a lot, but don't be tempted to make the balls bigger.
