In spite of the name, these cakes only become rocklike if left out for several days. Enjoy

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • l l/2 teasp baking powder
  • 3 tblsp sugar
  • 4 ounces softened butter
  • l cup currants
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • l/4 cup milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine flour, baking powder and sugar in a bowl. Cut the butter into small pieces and rub it in until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in the currants, eggs and milk, mixing to form a stiff batter.
Drop rounded tablespoons of the batter onto a well-greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake till they are golden in color - about 15 minutes.
Cool them on a rack
