Ingredients:
2 cups flourl l/2 teasp baking powder 3 tblsp sugar 4 ounces softened butter l cup currants 2 beaten eggs l/4 cup milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degreesCombine flour, baking powder and sugar in a bowl. Cut the butter into small pieces and rub it in until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in the currants, eggs and milk, mixing to form a stiff batter. Drop rounded tablespoons of the batter onto a well-greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake till they are golden in color - about 15 minutes. Cool them on a rack In spite of the name, these cakes only become rocklike if left out for several days.
