We have been snacking on these long before Power bars were invented.. Hope they work well for you!!

Ingredients

  • We are a family of Marathoners, Competative Cyclists and Rowers. We snack on these 'Cookies' for a quick pick-up after work outs. Give them a try
  • 1 six oz. can frozen orange juice, thawed but undiluted
  • 1/2 cup Quick oats, uncooked
  • 1 cup mixed dried fruits
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup dates
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

Mix first 8 ingredients.Cream shortening and sugar. Add molasses and egg. Mix well. Sift flour and spices together. Add fruit mixture and mix well. Bake in a greased 13X9X2-inch pan in a preheated 325*F. oven for 35 minutes. When cool, cut into bars.
