Grandma Patinkin always makes large quantities, to be eaten during the seder, or leftovers to be eaten during the week of Passover.

Ingredients

  • 12 large McIntosh apples
  • 3 cups pecans
  • 1/3 Concord grape or Malaga wine
  • 1 1/2 Tbls. ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 Tbls. honey (optional)

Directions

Core apples and cut into chunks
Place all the ingredients in a food processor. Using steel blade, pulse on and off. You do not want the mixture to become watery. It should be mildly coarse, resembling mortar, which it represents on the seder table. should you have a problem, add more nuts. By the way, I never use the honey.
