Ingredients:
12 large McIntosh apples3 cups pecans 1/3 Concord grape or Malaga wine 1 1/2 Tbls. ground cinnamon 1/3 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 tsp. ground ginger 1 1/2 Tbls. honey (optional)
Directions:
Core apples and cut into chunksPlace all the ingredients in a food processor. Using steel blade, pulse on and off. You do not want the mixture to become watery. It should be mildly coarse, resembling mortar, which it represents on the seder table. should you have a problem, add more nuts. By the way, I never use the honey. Yield 18 servings
Grandma Patinkin always makes large quantities, to be eaten during the seder, or leftovers to be eaten during the week of Passover.
