Serve this sauce hot over hot dogs in buns.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 or 2 cups thick strained tomato puree
Directions
In a saucepan, brown the ground beef in shortening, stirring and mashing during cooking: meat should not be in lumps.
Add onion when meat is about half cooked. Add cumin, chili powder, salt, garlic, tomato puree; simmer about 30 minutes
