Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1 lb. braunschweiger
  • 1 8-oz. package of cream cheese, softened
  • 2 TBS dry white wine
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp bottled ht pepper sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 TBS milk
  • Finely snipped parsley (optional)
  • Assorted crackers, rye or pumpernickel bread

Directions

In skillet cook bacon till crisp; drain well on paper toweling. Crumble bacon and set aside. In mixer bowl combine braunschweiger, HALF of the cream cheese, the wine, garlic powder, and hot pepper sauce; beat with an electric mixer til blended. Stir in crumbled bacon and chopped onion. Chill 1 hour. Form into an igloo shape on serving plate. Combine the remaining cream cheese and milk; bet until smooth. Spread over the braunschweiger mixture; chill well, Sprinkle with parsley, if desired. Serve with assorted crackers or bread rounds. Makes about 2-2/3 cups spread.
