Ingredients
- Filling:
- l cup molasses
- l heaping teasp soda
- l cup boiling water
- 2/3 of the crumb mixture
- Crumbs:
- 3 heaping cups sifted flour
- l cup sugar
- l/2 cup butter
- pinch of salt
Directions
Line 2 8" pie pans with rich pastry of your choice. Dissolve soda in molasses, stir till it foams, add boiling water. Mix crumbs. Add 2/3 crumb mixture to filling mixture, blend, and spread in bottom of pies. Scatter remaining crumb mixture over top of pies. Bake at 375 for about l/2 hour, till crumbs and crust are golden.
