It is very important to constantly stir the mixture after peanuts are added. It will start turning color very fast, so watch closely.


  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup white Karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Cook uhtil it spins a thread (abut 25-30 mintues)
  • Add:
  • 1# raw spanish peanuts (2 cups)
  • Stir constantly until light tan in color, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add remainder ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp sal
  • 1 T butter
  • 2 tsp baking soda.
  • Pour immediately on greased cookie sheet. Let cook, then crack into bite size pieces.
