I got this recipe in the 60s when we lived in Berkeley. I belonged to the International Cooking Club which was organized to bring the wives of foreign students and American women together to share cooking.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 # butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup currants
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 2 large egges

Directions

Rub fat into sifted flour and salt. Mix in sugar and currants. Beat in eggs. Lastly add the baking powder.

Roll out 1/4-inch thick and cut into rounds. Bake on greased frying pan, moderate heat, turning once. If too hot they will burn before cooking. Spread with butter and serve hot.
