Orange Crisps: Substitute orange juice and rind for the lemons.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda

Directions

Mix the ingredients together well, then form the dough into small balls, (about the size of a walnut).. Place them on a cookie sheet and flatten them, (a flat bottom glass works well for this). Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
