Ingredients

  • 3 onions
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 kg minced beef
  • 200 ml milk
  • 100 ml red wine
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 slices white bread, diced
  • 30g dried apricots, chopped
  • 1 apple, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons raisins
  • 3 tablespoons almonds, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons apricot jam
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 6 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon tumeric

Directions

Fry onions and meat. Mix 50 ml of the milk with 1 egg and the diced bread. Add apricots, apple, raisins, almonds, jam, curry, lemon juice, garlic and garam masala. Add meat and wine. Pat mixture into a greased casserole, press bay leaves on top. Bake 40-45 minutes at 350F/180C.

Whisk rest of milk, eggs and tumeric. Pour over meat and bake 15 minutes more until set. Serve with yellow rice.
