Even better the next day! This has been a family favorite for 2 generations.


  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 T salt
  • 4 T shortening
  • 1 T paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4-5 lb chicken/disjointed
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 pint sour cream


Brown onion in shortening, add seasonings and chicken. Brown 10 minutes. Add water, cover and simmer until tender (2-3 hrs.) Remove chicken, add sour cream to drippings in pan and mix well. Add cooked noodles*. Arrange chicken on top. Heat through. Serves 4-6. *Follow directions on noodle package for cooking.
