Ingredients

  • Plastic spoons (red or green are nice for Christmas gift giving)
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips or I sometimes use a block of milk chocolate such as Ghiradelli
  • 1 tablespoon solid vegetable shortening (Crisco)

Directions

Melt chocolate and shortening in a double boiler over simmering water. When melted remove from heat, but leave double boiler over water. Dip spoons, covering just the "spoon" part, not the handles. I use a piece of styrofoam and stick the handles in that to keep them upright until set. Then I wrap up about 6 of them together in colored plastic wrap and tie with a yarn bow for gift giving. You can also add a little cinnamon to the chocolate when you're melting it.
