Ingredients

  • Pastry for 2-crust pie
  • 3 cups blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon milk

Directions

Roll out half the pastry on lightly floured board; line 8-inch pie pan with pastry. Refrigerate until chilled. 2. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. 3. Place berries and sugar in saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a slow boil, then simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool; add to orange juice. 4. Sprinkle a little flour on bottom of pastry crust; spoon berries on top. Sprinkle with remaining flour and nutmeg; dot with butter. 5. Roll top crust and place over berries; seal edges with milk; flute edges. Prick several holes in center of crust. Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes more, or until crust is lightly browned.
