Ingredients
- 1 cup almonds (slivered works best)
- 5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
Cook the almonds in a non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat, shaking and stirring constantly. Blend together the other 3 ingredients. When the almonds begin to brown, add the sugar mix. Stir constantly until the sugar melts and coats the nuts. Spread immediately onto a non-stick cookie sheet to cool. When hardened, store in an air-tight container.
(Note: these aren't the same as the Mashuga Nut you requested, but I think you'll like them all the same. I've always done them with almonds, but there's no reason you couldn't try it with pecan halves. Note also that you can do double this recipe in a single large frying pan; when doubling, you can usually reduce the sugar by a tablespoon or so. Makes a great Christmas present, as well as a tasty garnish for cheesecake.)
