• 1 lb. lentils, washed
  • 1 med. onion, chopped
  • 2 - 15oz cans chopped, peeled tomatoes
  • 1 tsp cumin or to taste
  • 3 tsp chili powder or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt


Add about 6 cups water to lentils and bring to boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer an add'l 30 minutes. Adjust spices to taste and adjust consistency by adding more water to thin or simmering longer to thicken the chile. Garlic salt or powder may be added as an option.
