Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 slices bread
  • 2 T. butter
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/8 t. salt
  • 1 t. vanilla

Directions

Put the sugar into the top of a double saucepan. Butter the bread and cut it into dice. Sprinkle this over the sugar. Add the rainsins. Beat eggs, milk, salt and vanilla together and pour over bread. Do not stir. Place over simmering water and cook for 1` hour. The brown sugar will form a sauce. Serve warm or cold, turning out onto a serving plate.
