Ingredients

  • 2 pkgs frozen chopped spinach
  • 4 T butter
  • 2 T chopped onion
  • 1/2 c spinach liquid
  • 3/4 tsp celery salt
  • 6 oz roll jalpeno cheese
  • 2 T flour
  • 1/2 c canned evaporated milk
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 T worcestshire sauce
  • Red pepper to taste
  • Bread crumbs for topping

Directions

Cook spinach following directions on package. Drain and reserve liquid. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible. Melt butter in sauce pan. Add flour, stirring until blended and smooth, but not brown. Add spinach liquid and milk, slowly stirring to avoid lumps.Cook until thick. Add seasonings and cheese, cut into small pieces. Stir until melted. Combine with cooked spinach. Pour into ungreased baking dish and top with bread crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly, 20-30 minutes. Serves 8-10
