Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 large onion, cut into <-inch slices
  • 3 egg whites, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup Italian-style bread crumbs

Directions

Preheat oven to 400F. Spray a nonstick baking sheet with cooking spray. On a sheet of wax paper, combine flour, salt and pepper. Separate the onion slices into rings, one inside another. Dredge the rings in the flour mixture, dip in the egg whites and coat with bread crumbs. Arrange on the baking sheet and bake on the top rack until browned, 15 to 20 minutes, turning once.
