Ingredients
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3 tblsp. vegetable oil
- 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz.) can seasoned tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tblsp. Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of Tabasco
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 4 tsp. cold water
- 2 lbs. raw shrimp
- 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Cooked rice
Directions
Cook onion, celery, and garlic in hot oil until tender, but not brown. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, and seasonings. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes.
Mix cornstarch and water; stir into sauce. Cook and stir until mixture thickens. Add shrimp, green pepper and parsley. Simmer for 5 minutes or until shrimp are just done. Serve with cooked rice. Serves 5 or 6.
